Working with Images

All images of patients require informed consent and the patient or caregiver must sign our supplied consent form (see below).

Still Images

The minimum physical dimension for PEMSoft pixel images is 533 x 500 pixels but PEMSoft will shrink larger images to fit eg. 1066 x 1000 pixels. Anything smaller than 533 x 500 pixels will only partially fill the image window in PEMSoft which is not ideal. All still image digital

Video Clips

PEMSoft uses QuickTime movie player to display video because it is cross platform allowing PEMSoft video to play on both Windows and Mac. Standard video clip size is 320 v 240 pixels. It will be necessary for editors and users to install QuickTime Player on their Windows computers to display movies in PEMSoft (QuickTime is standard on Apple computers). QuickTime Player is free and can be installed from the PEMSoft CD. Like still graphics, there are many coding options for creating video and we can work with most. However, MPEG is a common format which plays on all modern computer video players such as QuickTime, VLC/MPlayer, Real and Windows Media Player provided the user has the correct codecs. Any editor wishing to incorporate video clips should discuss coding and compression options with Rob Pitt before sizing, compressing or sending video material.

Audio Clips

PEMSoft also uses QuickTime to play audio. Formats such as AIFF and WAV are also supported on both Windows and Mac.
