Standard Topics

Each Section is a collection of chapters or Topics which can be descriptions of diseases, clinical assessment Topics, procedure descriptions etc. PEMSoft is primarily a clinical decision support tool, which means information must be easy to find, clinically accurate, relevant and instantaneously available with minimal potential for misinterpretation. To this end, content is limited to 35 line chunks or subTopics.

This chunking of information is also important to allow PEMSoft to be used on small screen portable devices as well as full screen computers. Novice Editors will quickly find that the structure forces very clear thinking about the components for each Topic as well as restricting the amount of text in the Main Topic Field and SubTopic Fields to essential information.

Editors have been assigned specific Topics within their Section or Sections. Editors find their Topic assignments in the Overview window of the Editing Palette. Each editor is responsible for reviewing their allocated Topics and suggesting new Topics as required.

SubTopics

Each Topic contains up to 30 Subtopics listed in the left margin that can be opened to give important information to the user about the Topic. New SubTopics are added to Topics as required. As a guide, each Subtopic is limited to one screen for all of the information and, if more than one screen of information is required, a whole new Topic is created.
