The experience in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia was overwhelmingly positive and inspiring, but also disconcerting and sometimes shocking.

The Ethiopian people have a unique blend of beauty, dignity and warmth.  We were treated with the highest levels of affection, respect and appreciation.

It seems so incomprehensible that these capable and intelligent people live, work and survive in an environment so depleted of resources. There is almost no money for anything. Our conversations with colleagues there were almost identical to the ones we have at home--similar news topics, similar daily worries about families, careers and politics, similar goals. But we are living in a world of plenty that by comparison to the world there, is outrageously lavish in every respect.

The trainings were extremely successful and we installed PEMSoft on about 500 computers. Everyone loved the software. I spoke with the Health Ministry and the Gates Foundation Director for Africa. The video speaks for itself on the response to PEMSoft and the difference it will make in the lives of Ethiopian health professionals.
